As concerns about the environmental impact of blockchain technology have grown significantly, Tezos was a pioneer as a green alternative to other Proof of Work blockchains. Pre-merge, Tezos consumed 2 million times less energy than Ethereum. This resulted in a steady increase in popularity of Tezos NFT marketplaces, in particular among artists and musicians, who formed extremely strong communities on-chain.
To more deeply explore the artist community on Tezos, ONBD co-hosted a Twitter space with our friends and collaborators Cao Yin and Huang Yunqi, inviting five active Tezos artists and collectors to share their experiences.
During the conversation, the word we heard the most was “supportive.” Tezos community is like a big loving family, and the connection between artists and collectors on Tezos is very close. People here unreservedly share resources with each other, creating plenty of opportunities for Tezos NFTs to flourish. In addition, the gas fees on Tezos are much lower than Ethereum, so for artists who want to experiment with creating NFTs, it is a better place to start. The affordability of Tezos also attracts a large number of global creators from diverse backgrounds, which has injected many different cultural possibilities into the artwork seen on Tezos platforms.
