Last month, our medium launched a brand new column, “AVA Spotlight.” This is a newsletter focused on audiovisual art, hosted by ONBD’s co-founder, musician, composer, and art gallerist Dan Chen.
For a long time, the status of “sound” in new media art was not prominent. The audio components of the artwork were often completely underwhelming. In recent years, we have gradually seen some changes with the rise of digitally native artists. The development of digital environments offers new expressions for audiovisual artists who value the combination of both sound and image. As the concept of web3 enters the public eye, digitally native artists now have (via NFTs) an elegant and secure way to sell their art for the first time. With the support of digital art platforms, we are seeing more and more artists starting to collaborate with musicians to create audiovisual works. The boundaries of art are quietly broadening, and more vigor and vitality are bursting out.

ONBD is excited about the ‘renaissance’ that we are seeing in audiovisual art. As a web3 curatorial brand and incubator, we want to be more deeply involved in the development of this genre and provide outstanding audiovisual artists with more opportunities to come under the spotlight.
Therefore, in partnership with objkt.com, EmpireDAO, and MetaSill, ONBD is happy to announce Sound+Vision, an OPEN CALL series of exhibitions that will showcase audiovisual art! Hosted on ONBD’s Gallery on objkt.com, our aim is to bring together the growing community of artists, musicians, and other creators who are redefining this exciting, experiential genre of digital art. Collaborative works are encouraged, and all artists welcome!
